Property consultant Melissa Porter has said she is proud to be involved in this year's National Landlords Association (NLA) Property Women Awards.

She believes that female private landlords are helping to transform the market "with their business-savvy approach".

They are also apparently boosting their own lives and those of the tenants who rent property from them.

Commenting on the 2009 NLA event, she added: "The awards are here to recognise best practice, regardless of how many properties you have or how long you have been running your lettings business."

They represent "a great opportunity"to explain what methods it takes to be a great landlord and "why women do it better".

The overall UK Property Woman of the Year will be revealed during the event, while there will also be other prizes, including the young female property professional of 2009 - an award sponsored by the Association of Residential Letting Agents.
