A landlord from Sheffield has claimed the title of Property Woman of the Year, awarded by the National Landlords Association.

Shona Davison's success with landlord responsibilities was "generated by pure hard work and dedication to the private-rented sector", according to a spokesperson for the association.

Having bought her flat at 24 Ms Davison went on to develop a substantial property portfolio alongside raising a family.

Recently diagnosed with the debilitating myotonic dystrophy, Ms Davison said: "I am now more motivated than ever to build up my buy-to-let portfolio while I am young and still healthy and will be looking to buy more properties in the near future."

Following a search for a winner launched in April, the award was presented this week by television presenter Melissa Porter.

Ms Davison beat 33 competitors representing 11 different regions to the title.

The association was looking to find successful women who are changing the image of a stereotypical landlord.
