Police have labelled a landlord in Wales "a bully"after he was convicted of ten separate counts of fraud.

Steven Dickens, who has one of the largest rental property portfolios in the county of Conwy, will be sentenced next month after a seven-week trial came to an end.

Police began investigations into Mr Dickens' operations after concerns were raised over his treatment of tenants.

Officers later uncovered evidence which suggested that he had obtained several properties in his portfolio through dishonest and fraudulent mortgage applications.

Commenting on the outcome of the trial, Chief Superintendent Simon Humphreys said Mr Dickens had had acted in a "dishonourable and reprehensible manner".

"His property portfolio has been dismantled and recovery of assets arising from these offences will be pursued at a future confiscation hearing,"he added.

This comes after a Birmingham landlord was issued with a fine of close to £15,000 after he was found to be renting unlicensed homes to students in the city.ADNFCR-2002-ID-18973836-ADNFCR
