New landlord service proves successful

Property investors and private landlords from across the world have been using a new system to help them save money on repairs.

According to the Holyrood Partnership, the Edinburgh-based all-in-one maintenance landlord service is an alternative to the contracts offered by British Gas and Homeserve, and is increasing in popularity.

Dubbed One Call Home Assist, the organisation becomes a link in the chain of any landlord-tenant relationship, dealing with maintenance issues such as leaking pipes as and when they arise.

One landlord - who is based in Australia, but owns property in the Scottish capital - has used the system, which surpised and delighted managing director Paul Greaves.

"We were very surprised when we signed up a landlord based in Australia. It's a tremendous achievement and proves that we're being seen by customers from the other side of the world," he explained.

Mr Greaves added that the private landlord in question was saved the hassle of being woken up in the middle of the night when something went wrong with her Edinburgh property.

Last week, the Australian Daily Telegraph reported that there are many landlords from down under who have taken advantage of low property prices to purchase rental homes in the UK.
