Private landlords have been told that their properties need to provide a "wow factor"in order to stand out among the competition.

Home cleaning and services company ServiceMaster said that there are a number of potential high-end tenants looking to sign tenancy agreements for rental property, so making a home attractive is vital.

"While your decor may be on trend don't forget that prospective tenants have high standards and expectations,"the firm advised in a statement this week.

It is important that private landlords take care of both the interior and the exterior, it added, before explaining how a well-kept lawn can ensure a prospective tenant has a good first impression.

Many landlords will be looking to the student population for business in the coming months, as universities across the UK start their first semesters and youngsters begin their higher education courses in need of accommodation.
